Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 14, 2026

Scope

This policy covers version 2.0 of Medical Abbreviations: Quick, formerly Medical Abbreviations – Quick Reference, provided by VLR Software LLC. It does not cover Acroly, which is a separate application with its own privacy policy.

Your reference data

Searches are processed on your device against the bundled abbreviation collection. Saved entries, custom abbreviations, descriptions, and folders are stored on your device. Recent lookups and preferences are stored locally. VLR Software LLC does not receive your search history or operate a server that stores your library.

iCloud synchronization

When iCloud is available, the app uses Apple's CloudKit service to synchronize your library, including saved entries, custom abbreviations and folders, through your Apple Account. This transfers library data to Apple's iCloud infrastructure; it does not mean all data stays on your device. Apple processes iCloud information under its own privacy policy. Synchronization depends on your account, device settings, storage and network availability. Recent lookups are not included in library synchronization.

Advertising, tracking and purchases

The app contains no advertising or third-party analytics and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. No app account is required. The app is a paid download with no subscriptions or in-app purchases. Apple handles payment and purchase records; we do not receive your payment-card details through the app.

Sharing and support

If you share an entry, you choose the destination using your device's sharing controls. The recipient or service then handles that information under its own practices. If you email support, we receive your email address and the information you choose to send, and use it to respond and troubleshoot. Please do not send patient-identifying information. Apple may separately provide developers with diagnostics or aggregate App Store information according to your Apple settings and Apple's policies.

Your choices and retention

You can remove saved entries and custom content in the app and clear recent lookups without removing your library. Library changes may synchronize to your other devices. Manage iCloud access and stored app data through Apple's settings. Uninstalling the app does not necessarily remove iCloud data or device backups. Keep your own copy of information you need; synchronization is not a backup guarantee. Contact support to request deletion of correspondence we hold, subject to applicable retention obligations.

Sensitive information and security

The app is a terminology reference, not a patient-record system. Do not enter names, identifiers or other patient information in custom entries or folder names. Protect your device and Apple Account. No storage or transmission system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Website and external services

This policy describes the app. Visiting our website or following an external link is separate from using the app and is subject to the relevant website or service policy.

Changes and contact

We will update this page when these practices change. For privacy questions or requests, contact support@vlrsoftware.com, VLR Software LLC.
